Before even starting...

The reason for this blog is for my own good - as an incentive to keep going until sometime in May 2009 when I will be running the Bristol 10k race.
Not 'race' as in trying to win, just the taking part and trying to finish.
I have done the Bristol 1/2 marathon but that was back in 2006 when I was that much younger. I did finish which was very satisfying but it's kind of put me off doing another one simply cos once I knew I could finish then the next thing would be to improve on my time which would be difficult. (I thought) I did 2h 5m 25s which was perfectly respectable - but I would have to try and break the 2h mark. Not impossible of course but harder with each passing year.
So my plan is that I might even have another bash at the 1/2 marathon in 2009 - and the 10k is a step towards that.
But I haven't been running for 10 days - and then only for about 4 miles - and it nearly killed me.
It's going to be an uphill struggle.
Oh, and another pathetic excuse - my ipod is currently at the menders and I'm not expecting it back for 2 weeks. And I can't possibly run without distraction.
Or can I...?
