Ow

Well I did have a run this morning, around the downs with just the stumps (bums??) of snowmen left as evidence of the amazing snow we've had.
And now I really ache - lower back mainly, tops of thighs, not nice. Could be needing new shoes, new route, new body?
But I was still glad to have gone - well, glad to have finished anyway. And of course it means I can enjoy a huge Sunday lunch this evening. Sunday dinner. Heidi Pie pieminister, I'm thinking. Onion gravy, carrots and roasties perhaps. Fantasy food.

White Stuff

As in, 'stuff the white stuff'
It's still icy out there and I know I'm pathetically looking for excuses, but I don't want to run if there is a chance of slipping over. I've come a cropper on black ice while cycling twice this winter and it's no fun.
So, no I haven't been running, just walking through the snow and ice to get to work to find out many other people didn't make it in and have a nice day off instead. Hmm.
Hey - looks like there is another 'wintry storm' heading this way. Might not be running for a while longer. (And I would actually quite like to...)

weather

It's been snowing.
It's still snowing.
That's why I'm not running

How cold?

It was perishing this morning - especially heading into the wind. And it's getting colder: chances of an after-work run this week? Minimal.

But this morning was just about ok - felt every draught blowing up sleeves, down neck, up fleece... was very glad of gloves.

So it was the normal route around the downs, but I have misgivings about my little cross-country bit - is this in fact fairy wood? I prefer to think not as I often see them gathering at a different part of the downs when I cycle to work of a morning. But now the council's cleared a lot of the undergrowth they've had to go elsewhere which might be my cross-country part. But I haven't seen anyone there yet so perhaps they've gone further afield. Bit too chilly for that sort of shenanigans I would have thought.

I was very glad I went running even though it was difficult to get out of the house - but that's usually the way - I have to convince myself (remind myself even) that I never regret going for a run. Except on the occasion I tripped over the kerb and ended up with a bleeding knee and a twisted ankle and had to walk all the way home. Not a good look.

So nothing exceptional to report about this run - oh, except the ipod radio thing seems to work really well on the downs. Which meant I could be a sad beggar and listen to the Archers omnibus. How lame, when I have over 1000 songs to listen to... Each to their own.
